Welcome to Phonesse! ==================================== A Toolkit for Verbal Sound Patterns! ------------------------------------------------ Processing sound segments from text should be simple and accessible. There are a lot of tools for dealing with words (lexical items), but few tools for handling the underlying sounds of those words. The :ref:`phonesse` toolkit provides functions to: - Extract sound segments from text - Visualize sound segments - Generate sets of words with customizable sound similarities - Analyze sound patterns (More coming soon) You can also explore live web :ref:`demos` of some of these tools. .. figure:: _static/overviews/pics/circle_visual.png :align: center Although language sounds are something we usually hear, many patterns can be revealed by visualizing sound segments. Phonesse lets you visualize color-coded language sounds in MIDI and right or left-aligned grids. There are also tools for describing the stability of underlying sound patterns in sets of words or phrases. .. figure:: _static/overviews/pics/circles3.png :align: center .. toctree:: :maxdepth: 2 :caption: Overviews: _static/overviews/phonesse.rst _static/overviews/slantwise.rst .. toctree:: :maxdepth: 2 :caption: Documentation: _static/examples/test.rst Indices and tables ================== * :ref:`genindex` * :ref:`modindex` * :ref:`search`
